Christian Scutt is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and photographer specializing in commercial fashion, editorial, product content, and independent film. Originally from Sarasota, Florida, he was raised in a creative community, influenced by his grandfather, a Scottish documentary filmmaker and illustrator, and his grandmother, an American Cecchetti ballerina and studio director.

 

Christian’s passion for visual storytelling emerged at a young age. At 16, he was first recognized for his cinematography on a series of student-led short films honored by the Sarasota Film Festival in 2013. His work continued to gain recognition, notably in 2021 for his role as lighting director on the dramatic comedy In Defense of Civil Society, which earned 17 nominations and won two awards. Additionally, his cinematography on the short film R.S.V.P. received official selections at the Culver City and Golden State Film Festivals in 2020.

 

More recent noteworthy credits include lighting direction for the cover of the Grammy Award-winning album This Is Why by Paramore in 2023, as well as contributions to the cover of 10 Magazine USA’s Winter/Fall 2024 issue, Issue 03: Rising, Renew, Renaissance.

 

Christian’s craft is both a means of self-expression and a creative obsession, driving him to continually push artistic boundaries. With each project, he challenges himself to explore new depths of his vision, striving to unlock its full potential. Through intentional creative choices, he seeks to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and forge meaningful connections with others.

 

A Bachelor of the Arts graduate from Eugene Lang College, The New School, Christian has been active in the New York and Los Angeles markets since 2018. Through his expertise in lighting, design, and visual composition, he collaborates with leading professionals across the industry. Known for his keen eye for detail and technical precision, he crafts striking imagery that spans both motion and still photography, bringing a distinct artistic vision to a diverse range of commercial and independent projects.
